[SOLVED] unit not found - nothing compiles
« on: October 18, 2017, 11:44:52 am »
This can be due to ambiguous 2 compilers in path and happens reproducibly in Ubuntu / Mint and other distros.   :'(

As a result nothing ever compiles, e.g. IDE recompile is impossible. Meaning: this problem is a real showstopper, completely ruins the experience. Maybe Laz should diagnose this on startup (just call the test function under project options) and issue a stern warning. I ran into this in about 15 installs or so.  %)

The easy solution: wiki

Looks like you messed up your system completely. If you WANT a solution: Install ONE compiler instead of two to avoid conflicts. And preferably, use Debian instead of Ubuntu (or Mint) if you want a stable Linux programming environment.

You'll be better of if you stop messing around in a system of conflicts. At one point you may even end up screwing your OS.  ;D

no. it is perfectly possible to run 2 Laz in parallel.

the problem lies with the Ubuntu packagers who messed it up completely, or Laz should give a much more visible warning under this condition.

Why do you stick to Ubuntu. Last time I tried (16.04), even the network wasn't stable and disconnected randomly.

Provided they are installed at different locations and don't share their settings.

some things in mint/Ubu are neat, but my main distro is netrunner-rolling and KDE-neon-nightly
