The current FPC 3.0.4 made it to stretch-backports so if you had install problems, simply add stretch-backports to /etc/apt/sources.list in the usual way or to /etc/apt/sources.list.d as a separate file.

Object Pascal programmers should get rid of their "component fetish" especially with the non-visuals.

Lazarus 1.8 is also in stretch-backports, btw.
