How to replace Lazarus 1.9 on a Raspberry Pi 3B

I have a Raspberry Pi 3B with Raspbian Jessie and Lazarus 1.9 installed.
Which is best and more fool-proof procedure to replace Lazarus 1.9 with the final released version 1.8 ?
