25 years of FreePascal
« on: June 12, 2018, 04:37:46 pm »
Freepascal has grown of age (25) even before my eldest daughter (still 24).
I think a huge compliment is due to Florian and the other compiler devs for building, maintaining, documenting, hosting and pursuing new features.
This is almost unparalleled with such a small team.
Congratulations and may many years of such achievements follow...

Florian, you have created the single most open source project that I truly like and that really touches my heart.

Thank you. (And the rest of the team....)

I wish I had discovered fpc 25 years ago, instead of trying to work around turbo pascal's limitations - 64k limit. 16bit making longint operations painfully slow. 8 character file names. No dynamic arrays. No operator overloading. Delay bug in crt unit. And many others I did not even perceive as limitation before I started with FPC.

Congratulations and big thanks to the developers from my side, too !

25 years is very good! I hope I can still program with FPC when I'm 80! :)
Thanks to all the FPC team!
wishing you a nice life

Thank you the development teams, both FPC and Lazarus.

You give the old, but graceful, language new life. I like to read/write meaningful words rather than symbol and hate some short, but weird, syntax. I love Pascal and you make it powerful.

Thank you again for such good projects!

Thanks to Florian and his great idea 25 yrs back. Also thanks to all people for the support in this long time.

Andreas

BTW: I understand his motivation at this time, because i have worked/started  with TurboPascal 3.0 under CP/M :-)
regards
Andreas

I love FreePascal and Lazarus.

Indeed. Without FreePascal and Lazarus, I don't know if I would still be able to program in Pascal.

The most rewarding parts of my career as a programmer have been working with FreePascal and Lazarus.  Thank you indeed!

I thought Delphi was wonderful when it came out. When I found fpc and Lazarus, I was a little dubious. Now, I have been using them longer than any other environment. Thanks for such a brilliant programming environment and a language and compiler that work so well and are so much easier than the others.
