In Object Pascal source code, you can use any Unicode characters for identifiers, but it
makes a lot of sense to stick to just ASCII characters and consistently use just the English
language in your code. Different Object Pascal language elements are in English, and it is
easier to work with other programmers who might use other languages as their mother
tongue.

So smileys too!
That was an actual mistake ny Pawel and just related to Delphi 2009+. Before that even Delphi adhered to the standard as far as allowable characters for identifiers where concerned.
I still think it is a bit of an accident - what we call side-effect  8-) - marketed as a feature..... O:-)

Since Pawel had the same kind of inside knowledge at the time as I had slightly before that I think my assessment about this "feature" is very close to the truth.
That said: I wasn't taking part in the beta for D2009. All versions before that:yes, XE and XE2:yes. I had Tiburon but never worked with it.

Specialize a type, not a var.
