Running programm freeze when focus changes

Hello!

I am running a little prog that scans files and checks for filelenght. During aktivity there is no way to change the windows focus. If you do so the application freeze. Is there any way the programm can run in the background?

Please, share some code. It's impossible to see what may be happening without that. :)
