Help for Vitrualtreeview

All,
I need some starting help about VirtalTreeView.  Documentation is very poor ..

I have a table with records.
1) key-field
2) Description field
3) ID-field
The keyfield is made on block of 3 chars and this helps me to create a tree (in PHP fot html-aoutput).  Now I would like to use these data to create a Virtualtreeview.
In that it should be able to check some nodes and when a button is clicked, all checked nodes should return the key and the ID-field.
Any one an idea ?
