Install Lazarus 1.8.4 with rpm
« on: January 23, 2019, 02:40:44 pm »
Hi,
On a Mageia 5, I installed succefully fpc 3.0.4 but Lazarus cannot be installed. I got dependancies required : /usr/bin/make necessary, but when checking /usr/bin/ there is an executable make file available.
Any idea of what's going on ?
In fact, I uninstalled an old but running version (really too old !) which was provided with my linux box.
Thanks for any help.
JMarc

Hello, JMarc,

I don't know much about your Linux distro, but I believe that installing from source is the best option for most Linuxes.

See (As you succesfully installed fpc, you can start from step 4): https://forum.lazarus-ide.org/index.php/topic,35214.msg246573.html#msg246573

I had a couple of problems installing Lazarus on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04) and tried different ways. From looking back the best/easiest way was using this installation-tool: http://wiki.freepascal.org/fpcupdeluxe
I don't know your distro, so I can't tell if there is a version for your distro.
If you have questions or problems with this tool you can search or ask here: http://forum.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/topic,34645.0.html

Finally I re-installed make which was considered by the MCC as not nstalled, and I could install Lazarus. First tests show that it's working :) I just don't understand why I had to re-install this make file which was there !

Thanks for the answers
